Snack firm invests £1M and creates ‘dozens of jobs’

The investment at its sites at South Bank and the Riverside Park Industrial Estate will be devoted to adding more chilling capacity and improving access to areas where food ingredients and packaging are delivered to the facilities.

The firm’s md Jeremy Faulkner explained the significance of the investment. “This will bring the total money we have spent on our facilities in the last five years to over £10M, at the same time as creating dozens of new jobs for local people.​

‘Increase capacity at our sites’​

“This latest investment will enable us to further increase capacity at our sites, which is essential given the growing demand for our products from the large supermarket chains and customers in other sectors, including foodservice.”​

Continued investment in facilities, people and innovation was a key means of the firm retaining its position as one of the UK’s leading suppliers of chilled and frozen snack foods, he added.

“It is through investing in state-of-the-art facilities and unique manufacturing processes that we hope will keep us ahead of the competition.”​

Opened last year​

The firm’s new facility opened last year, adjacent to its South Bank site, had enabled the firm to introduce what was claimed to be “a unique process”​ for the creation of filled potato shells and skins.

The firm’s latest spending was part of plans to boost its £55M turnover over the next few years.

Employing more than 600 people across three sites in Middlesbrough and Billingham, the business creates ranges of foods and meal accompaniments across worldwide cuisines.

Specialisms included: Indian, Oriental, Mediterranean, American and Tex Mex cuisines. The business sells its products to most of the UK’s largest supermarket chains.
