Hartleys Farm Foods has installed a novel sanitising system in its production facility at Nelson in Lancashire, which uses oxidising technology to ensure its food preparation facility is free from potentially harmful contaminants before production begins.
The Radical sanitising equipment controls the production of ozone which destroys harmful contaminants without leaving any potentially harmful chemical residuals. Hartley also uses a Radical system to generate ozonated water, which is used as a sanitising wash-down on contact surfaces and equipment to kill bacteria, viruses, parasites and moulds.
Radical md Peter Townley adds: "As the food industry limits the use of aggressive sanitising chemicals, particularly those based on chlorine, manufacturers have a progressively more pressing need to find effective alternative processes to enhance their bio-security."
