George Fischer Piping Systems has launched what it claims is the world's first real-time, on-line calculation tool for cooling/refrigeration piping systems at http://www.cool-fit.georgfischer.com .

Designed for calculating and sizing whole cooling systems, the +GF+ tool is also said to eliminate recalculations of parameters when making changes. "It is especially advantageous when making calculations for upgrading from a metal piping system to the company's no-maintenance ABS and Cool-fit systems," says Simon Alder, marketing development manager.

Importing all necessary calculations for a secondary piping system, the tool is designed to enable engineers and installers to determine parameters such as pressure drops in pipes, fittings, and valves, as well as heat and temperature losses and time to freeze if the system is switched off.

The tool, which is available in eight languages, can make calculations covering all forms of media used in cooling, such as glycol and salt solutions.
