New leak-free plastic pump pal

01-Nov-2011

A new pump model DB5.5 has been added to the range of Finish Thompson DB plastic magnetic-drive sealless centrifugal pumps.

This new model covers flow rates of up to 5m3/h and differential heads of up to 6.5m. It is designed to provide sealless, magnetic-drive pumping, even in the most corrosive environments.

Michael Smith Engineers supplies the DB5.5 pumps and says they have extended dry-running capability and, when specified with a carbon bushing, can be dry run for hours, making them less prone to operator error or system upset.

DB pumps offer high working pressure capability (up to 90psi), which means fluids with a high specific gravity (over 1.8) can be easily pumped without the need for impeller trimming. They have a maximum operating temperature of 82°C for the polypropylene model and 104°C for the polyvinylidenedifluoride option.

Finish Thompson says its electric motor pumps can bring efficiencies of up to 70% while accomplishing the same work as an air-operated equivalent.

The DB5.5 comes in a close-coupled design configuration for optimum magnet alignment.
