Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) is rolling out a labour planning system supplied by internet application developer Eleventeenth that has achieved "a significant cost saving" at its Wakefield plant in Yorkshire.
The system coordinates all staff, ensuring accredited workers are present, up to date with certifications and correctly allocated to appropriate tasks.
The Resource DLM package was implemented at CCE's largest factory in Wakefield (with nine production lines) in 2008. CCE used to manage line production, shift patterns and staff resourcing manually with spreadsheets.
A spokeswoman for Eleventeenth added: "As the firm has witnessed a significant cost saving, in 2010 the system has been extended to a further three plants in the UK: Milton Keynes, north London and Sidcup."
She said the package was suitable for firms employing more than 100 people. Customers pay for the implementation and then a monthly fee. "Our experience shows companies can expect to have achieved 100% ROI (return on investment) in a matter of months," she added.
