Food manufacturing park expansion to create up to 90 jobs
Southglade Food Park in Bestwood, Nottingham, has expanded by 2,976m2, which is equivalent to about six tennis courts.
The £7.4M expansion involved the creation of a further 12 purpose-built units for production, testing and packaging by food and drink firms.
The specialist park was the first of its kind in the country when it opened in 2005, and the expansion work started in July 2014.
‘High demand for facilities’
The investment was part-financed by £3.8M of funding through the European Regional Development Fund.
Nottingham City Council is the landlord for the site and the park is run by the Food and Drink Forum.
Councillor Graham Chapman, deputy leader of the council, welcomed the development which aims to attract new businesses to the city.
“The food park has been so popular since it originally opened that we have had to turn away businesses in the past due to such high demand for facilities, so I’m delighted we’ve been able to attract European investment to help us to expand this fantastic facility,” Chapman said.

“The expansion is expected to create up to 90 jobs for local people, and we are confident this investment will continue to promote Nottingham as a key location for food and drink manufacturing in the UK.”
Tenants on the site are involved in a range of food manufacturing, such as vegetable preparation, pasta production, making frostings and a pasty business.
These companies include fresh produce firm Startfresh, Cake and Biscuit LLP and fresh food delivery service Oggies Catering.
