Fabulous Bakin’ Boys gets boost from robotics

Cake, flapjack and muffin maker, the Fabulous Bakin’ Boys are reaping the benefits of a £3M investment in robotic technology, which is enabling the firm to grow new markets, cut costs and boost efficiency.

In this exclusive video, Gary Frank, head boy of the Fabulous Bakin’ Boys, explained how the robots − sourced from Spanish supplier Ulma − are transforming output of the firm’s bakery near Whitney, Oxfordshire.

The robots, which became fully operational this autumn, wrap muffins and put them into shelf-ready packaging. They then put the packs into cases for delivery, place them on pallets and wrap the pallets in cling film.

Great British Bounce Back competition

Meanwhile, the Fabulous Bakin’ Boys triumphed earlier this year in the Great British Bounce Back competition.

The Great British Bounce Back was launched earlier this year to showcase food and drink firms – big, medium and small – that are leading the UK economy out of recession.
