The Canadian automated inspection systems supplier Dipix has set up a London office to market its services in Europe.
Dipix machine vision systems monitor the manufacture of very fast moving products, such as biscuits, buns, tortillas, pizzas, bread and confectionery, as they move through the production system. Its 2D/3D imaging, which provides size, shape and colour information for randomly orientated foods, is used by McDonald's and the world's biggest tortilla maker.
"Labour rates are high in many European countries, so we expect our systems to pay for themselves in only one to two years," says Dipix European md Robin Cairns.
