Bug killing air system approved

01-Feb-2006

Quest International, which has developed a novel air management system claiming to kill 99.7% of airborne bacteria and viruses, has completed a stringent validation process carried out by Campden & Chorleywood Food Research Association (CCFRA).

AirManager uses close-coupled field technology, which is a transient 'force field' process said to create the ability to kill bacteria and other contaminants quickly. It is also harmless to people working in the vicinity.

CCFRA's Dr K L Brown and Chloe Stripp reported: 'The AirManager 4 unit was effective in removing aerosols of the test organisms: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Straphylococcus aureus, Penicillium chrsogenum and Neurospora sitophila. Within the time frame of these experiments (up to four hours) log reductions achieved were typically between one and two log reductions compared to results with the unit switched off.' A log reduction of two represents a germicidal rate of more than 99%, says Quest.

David Hallam, director of R&D at Quest said: "AirManager has proved to be one of the most powerful air management systems on the market - a fact now confirmed by the Campden & Chorleywood Food Research Association."

AirManager has a range of uses where contamination from bacteria, viruses or fungi is likely.
