Pickles and chutney manufacturer Bennett Opie has found a cost-effective solution to its cooling and heating problems by installing a new Breezair system at its Sittingbourne plant.

The company dismissed conventional air conditioning as too costly to install and run, opting instead for the Breezair evaporative air system. Not only will the system reduce factory temperatures by around 60C, it can be adapted for winter heating.

Manufactured by Seeley International, Breezair can operate with doors and windows open while providing a constant flow of air. Seeley claims Breezair is far more versatile than standard cooling systems as it reduces temperature by providing cool air to overflow and prevent hot air entering the building. As fresh air is continually drawn from outside, before being cooled and humidified, the system also reduces the risk of airborne disease, it says.

The system has a climate control panel, which enables fan speed to be programmed.
