Northern Ireland-based Dale Farm has launched the first product in the country to contain Ocean Nutrition Canada's (ONC's) fish oil ingredient Meg-3.

Dale Farm Mega Milk is high in calcium and low in saturated fat. It contains vitamins A, B2, B12, D, and E. In addition, each 250ml glass of Mega Milk contains 37.5 mg of Meg-3 - a combination of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).

Brian Beattie, head of marketing at Dale Farms, claims that the company felt compelled to fortify products with omega-3 after looking into the scientific evidence.

"Dale Farm Mega Milk was created to help people contribute to their daily nutrient requirements," he says. "Omega-3 EPA and DHA have been proven, by many studies, to provide several health benefits, such as promoting brain function and heart health. As a result, we did not feel we could make a milk product without providing these essential nutrients."
