Solbar expands its range of soy proteins

15-Apr-2010

Solbar Industries has invested over $1M in new technology over the last 18 months to develop Solpro 842: a new, low-viscosity soy protein isolate.

Solpro 842 is 90% soy protein and is designed for applications such as soy crisps, extruded snacks and cereals.

It is designed to have a low viscosity when subjected to heat and extrusion, while maintaining a bland flavour profile, according to the company.

The launch is part of Solbar's commitment to grow in the nutritional foods market through new applications, said Solbar chief executive Shaul Shelach.

The firm is also looking at producing low viscosity soy proteins for the beverage and protein bar markets.
