Krill oil with optimised properties

Enzymotec is set to introduce a new krill oil called Kreal. The product is pure krill oil extracted from the Antarctic Krill. It contains omega-3 fatty acids, phospholipids and astaxanthin and is made using a multi-stage oil extraction process. This offers an optimal preparation process that preserves its natural qualities and ensures its freshness, according to Enzymotec.

Unlike fish oil, krill oil largely maintains its natural nutrient profile and sensitivity to heat, light and oxidation of the biomass from which it was extracted. Elements such as astaxanthin and omega-3 bound phospholipids are extremely sensitive and can only be exposed to relatively mild extraction procedures. Consequently, a careful purification process must take place to ensure the efficacy and safety of the krill oil through processing and during its shelf-life.
