How to Bring home the vegetarian bacon

06-Sep-2010

Pan-European chemicals distributor Azelis has developed a bacon flavouring that can be also be used in vegetarian food products as it employs no animal fat.

Richard Bacon, commercial manager of Azelis in the UK said: "With dosages usually below 1%, the amount of fat added by using Butter Buds Bacon is essentially zero, but the fatty impact coming from the product is very intense. So for savoury applications for example, sauces, processed cheese spreads, seasonings, marinades and meat applications such as sausages it works wonderfully."

Azelis's enzyme technology promises a "more natural-tasting flavour than other bacon flavours" with "a nice, clean bacon hint, without an overpowering smoky note".

To help manufacturers meet consumers' demands for healthier food products and government targets for reduced sodium, the flavouring contains no added salt.
