The market for products that support healthy ageing has been boosted by a new wild blueberry extract that is claimed to offer cognitive benefits.

ThinkBlue is associated with the improvement of episodic memory – the recollection of personal experiences and specific events – according to its maker Naturex.

Blueberry’s association with episodic memory is based on a study of healthy people aged 65 to 80 at a daily dose of 111mg, compared with a placebo.

Naturex launched the product at Vitafoods Europe, which took place in Geneva last month.

Turmeric extract for joint health

It also used the show to unveil an organic turmeric extract for joint health. Turmipure consists of 95% standardised curcuminoid and it is produced without the use of pesticides or other chemicals, the firm said.

ThinkBlue and Turmipure are produced in compliance with Naturex’s Pathfinder programme, which claimed to guarantee traceability in the supply chain.

Naturex has produced ‘ID packs’ for both, containing full details of their origins.
