A new nut flavour range completely free of any nut components has been claimed by its producer to be as authentic as the real thing.

Available in five varieties – almond, hazelnut, peanut, pistachio and walnut – Sensient Flavors said the range is also on trend with market demands for allergen-free products.

According to Mintel, ‘allergen-free’ is one of the top claims among food products, featuring on more than 14% of global product launches.

50% ‘free-from’ growth

Meanwhile, forecasts estimated that in the UK alone, the more specific ‘free-from nuts’ claim will experience 50% growth by 2019.

Organisations like the European Federation of Allergy are also advocating for the needs of people with allergies.

Sensient said the nut flavours were characterised by their compatibility with other flavours and, as such, they were a vital component of a wide array of products within dairy, bakery and confectionery.

Cleaning downtime

Using these flavours eliminated contamination on industrial lines and saved on cleaning downtime, it added.

Cost-efficiency was another advantage, as the flavours were available all-year round.
