The company recently launched an orange carbonated soft drink Optimize prototype boasting 50% less sugar and calories and considerable savings compared with full sugar alternatives.
"Our optimise beverage offer includes flavoured water; lemon carbonated soft drink; cola; orange juice; and tea," said Caroline Sanders, global marketing and communications director for Tate & Lyle Speciality Food Ingredients. "We are also in the process of developing several varieties of carbonated drinks."
Sanders said cost optimisation and healthy reformulation were the two biggest drivers of the sugar replacement market.
