International Laboratory Services (ILS) has recovered from a fire that hit one of its labs last year to nail an Outstanding Achievement Award at the Medilink East Midlands Business Awards.

The business provides chemical and microbiological food and pharmaceutical testing services to a range of clients.

ILS received the accolade in recognition of the major recovery process to rebuild one of its laboratories at its headquarters in Shardlow, Derbyshire, following a devastating fire in February 2013.

Extensive damage

The conflagration caused extensive damage, resulting in three quarters of the laboratory space being unusable.

ILS said the successful recovery process had been exhausting, but its new laboratory was scheduled for completion very soon.

“We took great pride in accepting the Outstanding Achievement award at the Medilink East Midlands Business Awards 2014,” said ILS in a statement.

“And we certainly could not have achieved any of this without the hard work and dedication of all our staff, and the tremendous support of our clients and suppliers.”
