Changing consumer attitudes, European laws and corporate social responsibility policies are all increasing the focus on sustainability. But there is no simple, off-the-shelf solution. Not only are attitudes continually changing, but also the very deﬁnition of sustainability is interpreted in different ways. New strategies to assess and manage sustainability impacts are constantly emerging – but do they work? Achieving sustainability goals throughout the food chain without compromising food safety or increasing pest risk is therefore a growing challenge. SOFHT, with Ecolab Pest Elimination, has organised this conference to explore and clarify key sustainability issues. Speakers from across the food industry will address a wide range of sustainability topics: from ensuring compliance with audit standards, EU laws and corporate policies, through the practicalities of implementing sustainability strategies, to innovative approaches including new techniques and products in pest control.
