Meet the new master of snacks

26-May-2009

Integrating new equipment into an existing line is a smart way for firms to enlarge their product portfolios with minimum investment.

The new SBX Master twin-screw cooker extruder from Baker Perkins allows firms to extend snack-making product lines in stages to produce high-specification complex snacks including wholegrain/multigrain and filled pillows with a variety of shapes, textures and surface patterns.

The solid-barrel unit offers process flexibility via modular design, high free-volume geometry and high torque capacity. In its simplest form it produces conventional direct expanded snacks.

Additional units such as cutters, crimpers and co-extrusion units may be added to produce pillows, tubes and filled snacks.

Equipment from other processes can be incorporated to further increase the range of products. For example, cereal grain cookers for wholegrains or multi-grains or shredding rolls to produce snacks with a distinctive layered texture.
