The installation of the Fuel+ system from Maxsys at the Newcastle plant of Findus has reduced the natural gas consumed by its three boilers by 6.6%. The saving will allow the company to recoup the outlay on its investment within 12 months.
To provide steam generation for both processes and heating, the Findus plant makes use of three Danks MOD125 Metric boilers, which all operate with Saacke CG40-4960 burners. The burners were fuelled using natural gas and annual consumption was measured at around 2.4Mm3.
Findus is continuously looking at ways to improve fuels costs and its environmental impact and the energy team on site looked at many different ways of saving energy from more efficient practices through to the use of wind turbines.
Maxsys contacted Findus to describe the benefits of Fuel+, a patented fuel treatment system that improves combustion by applying a finely calibrated magnetic field directly to the fuel. There are no moving parts and the units are maintenance-free.
Trials before and after the installation of Fuel+ concluded that Findus had gained a 6.6% reduction in gas consumption. A reduction in carbon dioxide output was another benefit.
