Customised control of labelling

27-Jan-2009

Lenze Group's Markem Cimpak 300 labelling machine applies labels to pallets using a pneumatic arm. Up to 130 labels an hour can be applied on two sides of a pallet. The machine can also label a third side if the pallet is moved to a second stop position.

The Cimpak labellers normally operate as part of a network with control from a host computer. But they are freestanding with their own control system so that they can work autonomously if there is a failure of the factory server or network.

The Lenze IPC control system can offer a customised package from a menu of standard options ? for example processor power, display and keyboard type, physical size, and Windows software. The IPC control is cabinet mounted together with an operator display that is mounted on an arm in front of the machine. The screen is ingress-protection rated to IP65 and enclosed in a tough aluminium casing.

A typical use for the Cimpak machine is in the beverage industry where it labels pallets of bottled drinks. Here cleanliness and wash-down requirements mean that an IP65 protected operator display is essential.
