Food Manufacture is to support next year's Food Environmental Efficiency Day (FEED), organised by government-funded sustainability programme Envirowise.

FEED takes place on February 5 2008 at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham. It will offer food and drink firms free advice on improving their environmental performance while reducing costs in areas such as packaging, water use and energy efficiency. Publicity for the conference coincides with reports that Gordon Brown is considering raising carbon dioxide reduction targets from 60% to 80% by 2050.

"With environmental issues continuing to attract high levels of public interest, businesses can achieve real commercial benefits by addressing their use of resources," said Clare Campbell, Envirowise food and drink sector specialist. "FEED will provide delegates with practical advice from a range of industry experts all under one roof."
