The IFT asked Dr A Elizabeth Sloan, president of consulting firm Sloan Trends & Solutions, to give insights on the top 10 functional food trends for 2016. She gathered data from a multitude of industry resources to come up with the following trends.
Among the list included observations that men now accounted for 43% of primary shopping and 46% help with food preparation.
The report also highlighted the fact that 30% food shoppers participated in at least one specialised eating plan, favouring vegetarian, vegan and Paleo options.
