Production will recommence at Warburtons fire-ravaged Bolton bakery in September, the firm has revealed.

A spokeswoman told FoodManufacture.co.uk: “Production will re-start from the bulk of the site some time in September.

"But we can’t yet give a date for when production will recommence at the ChippidyDooDaa plant [which suffered the bulk of the fire damage].

“In the short-term we are still meeting customer orders from our other bakeries.”

Ten fire engines from stations across Manchester were called to the bakery to deal with the blaze, which started on July 29.

A planned £25m redevelopment at the site that was due to be commissioned from September 2011 will still go ahead. However, the timetable might change.

The incident follows devastating fires at Dearne Valley Foods and Wessex Foods last month.
