How to prevent a product recall and then manage the fall-out if one happens

26-Nov-2007

Food processors fearful of having to deal with a product recall can get help at Food Manufacture's one-day conference on 'Product recall: avoid, manage and survive' taking place at the Ardencote Manor Hotel, Warwick on March 6 2008.

The event aims to equip delegates with practical advice on preventing a product recall and managing the fall-out should the worst happen.

Legal and crisis management experts will give keynote speeches during the day and delegates will hear from companies and local authorities that have been directly involved in recalls.

The conference will be chaired by former Food Standards Agency (FSA) chief executive Dr Jon Bell, now a consultant. Other speakers will include the FSA's head of incident prevention Valerie Curtis; Nick Lowe, food safety team leader with Birmingham City Council, who was closely involved with the Cadbury Salmonella outbreak in 2006; and Simon Houghton-Dodd, quality and environment manager at Tate & Lyle and business development director of the Society of Food Hygiene and Technology.

Subjects covered will include the challenge posed by allergens; protection against malicious attack; and the impact of reformulation on microbiological safety and shelf-life.

The conference is open to everyone from operations and production managers to marketing and PR bosses.
