An attempt by brewer Coors to link up with Scottish Courage and Carlsberg to supply and service bar equipment has been blocked by the Competition Commission.
In a provisional ruling, the Commission said the merger would further restrict choice among the UK's 149,000 draft beer outlets, many of which are obliged to pay for technical services as part of the cost of the beer.
A final ruling is expected soon.
