Big is bad?

Multinational food firms are becoming too big and powerful and are threatening the fight against poverty in developing countries, claimed ActionAid.

Companies such as Unilever and Nestlé "threaten the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of poor farmers", claimed the charity, which called on the government to regulate multinationals' activities abroad. The world's poorest farmers are subsidising the world's largest food companies, it said.
